About Us

Our Mission

South Nation Sanctuary & Gardens is a loving home to a diverse population of animal residents, including rescued formerly farmed animals.  We are dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment to all who visit or call this land home. Our main goal is to inspire compassion for each other and our planet by ensuring the well-being of every animal in our sanctuary, and developing various environmentally restorative community projects.  Join us in our mission to protect and care for these wonderful creatures, each other and our planet.

Our Initiatives

Making a Difference

Explore our current projects and discover how we are making a positive impact. As we are primarily a small, privately funded sanctuary, your support significantly assists us in continuing our mission of providing love, care, and shelter for all of the animals under our protection, and expanding our community programs to inspire compassion toward one another and our planet.

Sanctuary

Living Out Their Days in Peace

Our farm sanctuary residents have come from a variety of situations, including abuse, neglect, and abandonment; and we are dedicated to providing each of them with the individualized feed, love, medical care and a new chance at life that everyone deserves. Every rescue is a story of hope and compassion, made possible by the support of caring animal lovers like you.

Growing Healthy Food for Healthy Community

Host to a mix of pastures, orchard and forested areas, the sanctuary lands offer plenty of opportunity for cultivating and foraging a variety of healthy foods to sustain both residents of our sanctuary community as well as the larger community as a whole.

We utilize organic, no-till and regenerative growing practices wherever possible and focus on organically-grown, native, heirloom and rare varieties.

Learning

Raising Awareness & Learning Together

We aim to raise awareness about the importance of showing compassion towards all living beings. By educating the community through a variety of approaches, we hope to create a more caring, empathetic and just society.  We invite those interested in co-creating to learn alongside us.

Sustainability

Join Our Cause

Whether its tending to the heirloom apple orchard, assisting to further develop the food forest, running a seedling plant sale or being a part of any of the other ongoing community projects, we always have some sort of food-growing or sustainability-focused activity on the go.
